Guga Honored In Final Monte-Carlo Appearance

Two-time Masters Series Monte-Carlo champion Gustavo Kuerten was honored Sunday as he prepared for his final tournament at the Monte-Carlo Country Club.

Kuerten, who won the title in 1999 and 2001, is playing his final season on the ATP circuit and was granted a wild card into the 2008 edition of Masters Series Monte-Carlo Presented by Rolex.

Kuerten was presented with a framed picture of the Monte-Carlo Country Club by MCC president Mme de Massy. The photo also contained images of Kuerten's two titles in Monte-Carlo. He also received handblown Biot glassware.

Kuerten plays his opening match Monday against Monte-Carlo resident Ivan Ljubicic.
