Fourth seeds Fabrice Santoro and Nenad Zimonjic crashed out of Masters Series Monte-Carlo Wednesday, beaten 3-6, 6-0, 10-8 (Match TB) by Jarkko Nieminen and Andrei Pavel, who advance to the quarterfinals. Zimonjic won back-to-back Monte-Carlo titles in 2004 amd 2005.
Fifth seeds Paul Hanley and Kavin Ullyett, who are searching for their first title since Sydney in the second week of the year, coasted into the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Polish duo Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.
The seventh-seeded team of Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle came from a set down to defeat Davis Cup teammates Igor Andreev and Dmitry Tursunov 5-7, 6-1, 10-6.
The scratch pairing of Ashley Fisher and Jim Thomas, the last team to make it into the draw, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Czechs Frantisek Cermak and Pavel Vizner.
On Thursday No. 1 team Bob and Mike Bryan play their first match against Argentines Jose Acasuso and Juan Ignacio Chela.
