Bob and Mike Bryan, leaders of the Stanford ATP Doubles Race, required just 50 minutes to beat Ashley Fisher and Jim Thomas 6-0, 6-2 for a place in the semifinals of ATP Masters Series Monte-Carlo on Friday.
The top-seeded American twins improve their season record to 24-2 and continue their quest for a fifth ATP title of 2007. They lost to Leander Paes and Nenad Zimonjic in the 2005 Monte Carlo final.
The Bryans will next meet No. 5 seeds Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett, who saved one match point at 10-9 in the Match Tie-break against Fernando Gonzalez and Ivan Ljubicic.
Hanley and Ullyett improved to 16-6 after a 6-4, 4-6, 12-10 (Match TB) victory in 87 minutes. The pair will now hope to replicate their Round Robin win over the Bryan brothers at Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai in November 2006.
Frenchmen Julien Benneteau and Richard Gasquet knocked out defending champions and No. 2 seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi 1-6, 3-6, 10-5 (Match TB) in 68 minutes.
Bjorkman and Mirnyi, who won six titles last year, lost the Australian Open final against the Bryan brothers in January. They are currently No. 4 in the Stanford ATP Doubles Race.
